How You Can Prepare Okro Vegetable Soup – The Typical Nigerian One

Okro soup is one of Nigerian best soup and it is also loved by some African countries but in this case you will add vegetable.
Okro soup is a draw soup just like the ogbono soup, the soup is mostly cooked in the southern area of Nigeria were the okro and vegetables can easily be found.
The okro is greenish in its outlook and whitish inside it with seeds inside which are also whitish in color.
You can harvest both okro and vegetable after 3 months of sow, you can plant okro seed in a sandy soil and after a week you will see okro has started growing so as to some of the leaves.


Ingredient used in cooking okro vegetable soup
  • 1 ½ Cups or 300g tender okro,
  • 1 ½ cups or 84g picked leaves (spinach or pumpkin leaves),
  • 2 tablespoon of grounded crayfish (it is optional)1 or ½ teaspoon of grounded pepper, depending on the soup quantity
  • Salt to taste
  • 6-8 tablespoon of palm oil
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 16 pieces of cow meat (beef)
  • 2 cups of water
  • Maggi Cube
After getting the entire ingredient needed for the soup, wash and cut leave, wash and chop the onion, wash the meat.

How To Prepare

STEP1:
Boil wasted meat with a little maggi, onions and salt to taste until almost tender.

STEP2:
Put water and all ingredients except the okro and leaf

STEP3:
Leave it to boil for ten (10) minutes

STEP4:
Add the washed and grated okro to the pot and allow boiling to blend

STEP5:
Add prepared leaves making sure the soup is of the desired thickness and taste


Conclusion: you can wait for few minute to drop down the pot before you dish, you can eat with FUFU, EBA (garri), AMALA
